Cavalier Fuel Computer Programming Service

(applies to Mk3 Cavalier, Calibra, Carlton and Senator)

The fuel computer that was fitted as standard into some high-end models of Vauxhall Cavalier/Calibra/Carlton and Senator can be reprogrammed by Vauxhall using Tech1 to work with most of the engines built by Vauxhall for these cars between about 1987 and 1997.  Vauxhall charge about an hours' labour for this and they are limited to standard engine and wheel/tyre combinations, so if you want to fit non-standard wheels or engines then until now you'd have to put up with the computer showing inaccurate values.

I can reprogramme fuel computers, both for standard programmes using Tech1 (I have one of these) and for non-standard configurations.  I do it mainly as a favour to members of CavWeb, Migweb and Club Calibra and as you will see I don't exactly earn a living out of it.  Standard programmes are relatively easy to provide, but the non-standard ones take about an hour of my time or more to do, so the beer money is appreciated.

Many people are fitting these computers into all sorts of cars and I have already programmed over 50 computers with 100% owner satisfaction.

NEW!  I've listened to the concerns of those of you not wanting to send cash through the ordinary post, and I agree.  I have added a new online form that you can fill in and send all the information I need electronically, plus a PayPal link that you can use to send me beer money without putting it in the envelope with your fuel computer module.  Hopefully you'll find this easier, please let me know what you think.

Click here for the new online form that you can send to me electronically.

or...

Click here for the old paper form that you can fill in using MS Word and send to me by email or post.

Prices and instructions:

  • Standard programmes (Tech1)

For standard programmes, simply fill out sections 1 and 2 on the form and send it to me with £15, a stamped addressed envelope and your memory module.

  • Non-standard wheels and tyres

Fill out sections 1, 2 and 3, then send the form with £20, a stamped addressed envelope and your memory module.

  • Non-standard engines - NEW!

This is much more complicated, so I've written a procedure.  Fill out sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the form and send it with £30, a stamped addressed envelope and your memory module

Please Email me to make arrangements if you're going to use the paper form (and cash in the post) method.

Notes:

To use a standard programme:

  • Engine ECU must be standard for the engine,
  • Fuel pressure regulator must be standard,
  • Engine must have come from a Cavalier/Calibra/Carlton/Senator,
  • Wheels and tyres should be of standard size.

Stamped Addressed Envelopes:

I don't want to labour the point about the SAE - if you include one I'll generally do my best to get your computer module programmed and in the post back to you in only a couple of days because it causes me less hassle.  If you don't include the SAE I'll wait for you to send one before returning your module.

A quick note about Recorded Delivery - please read!

I'm getting an increase in the number of modules that are sent to me by recorded delivery.  This causes me problems as I often have to drive into town and walk to the sorting office to collect undelivered parcels, taking time I don't have.  I don't want to let anyone down and so while I will try to accommodate requests to receive items send Recorded and for me to post by Recorded, please expect at least a couple of weeks delay.  If it helps, I can accept payments via PayPal, which avoids sending cash through the normal post.  There's bound to be a first time and I don't want to tempt fate, but none of the modules sent to me have gone missing in the post as yet.
